The Harrington Hotel building first saw life in the New South Wales colony as a boarding house. Most boarders were itinerant workers and fishermen risking life and limb at the perilous mouth of the Manning River – known for causing many a shipwreck at the time.
In 1902, the premises transitioned into a hotel and pub, a mainstay for locals and visitors that enjoyed a cheeky tipple, good hearty food, and stunning views of the Manning River.
As the Harrington township moved with the times, so has the Harrington Hotel. Once a fishing village, Harrington is now a thriving modern getaway for locals, out-of-state travellers, and even international visitors.
In 1997, the Hotel was purchased by the Nixon family. Recognising the significance of Harrington Hotel, they brought with them a passion to update the Harrington for the 21st Century, while retaining its pre-Federation charm and heritage.
The Nixon family undertook major fit outs and renovations of the hotel in 2004, modernising the sports bar, bistro, lounge, and ever popular outdoor decking area.
The family pressed ahead with further refurbishments in 2019, with more planned for 2021.
Patrons can enjoy live music, club nights, a fully decked out sporting bar, function room, gourmet bistro, and a fun, family atmosphere. The Harrington is renowned for its blend of traditional pub favourites with artisan-inspired gastropub fare, featuring local fresh seafood such as snapper, oysters, bream, blackfish, and whiting. The “Harry” offers seasonal menus and specials that will cater to all ages and tastes.
